Preventive cardiology seeks to mitigate the rise of cardiovascular disease through lifestyle changes and the use of medication. Cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attacks and stroke, is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and a complex disease to treat. Fortunately, we work extensively to manage this disease from a preventive and noninvasive approach.

The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, in cooperation with the UCI Health Preventive Cardiology & Cholesterol Management Program, partners with you to help improve your quality of life and prevent future cardiovascular problems.
Our focus on integrative health emphasizes state-of-the-art testing combined with lifestyle intervention. We offer a comprehensive assessment of early heart disease, including coronary artery calcium scoring, carotid artery imaging, endothelial function, and central blood pressure assessment. We work with you to develop a personalized plan to reduce your risk factors, such as adjusting your diet and getting more exercise.
We also offer stress management, mindfulness training, relaxation techniques and information about nutritional supplements and other complementary therapies.
We are recognized nationally for preventive cardiology expertise with our board-certified faculty participating in writing national recommendations on how to diagnose and treat heart disease. Our approach is personal and tailored to the individual patient with the resources of a university-affiliated medical center.
